School Policies

St. Therese School follows all school policies of the Archdiocese of Denver. Admission Policies. These policies are specific to St. Therese School:

1.  Age Requirement:

• Students entering Pre-School must be 4 years old by October 1st for any given year.
• Students entering Kindergarten must be 5 years old by October 1st for any given year.
• Students entering First grade must be 6 years old by October 1st for any given year (Archdiocesan Policy No. 2000)

2.  Philosophical Orientation:
Whether Catholic or non-Catholic, all students must attend religion classes and participate in religious activities conducted in the school.

3.  Catholic Registrants
Catholic students will be given first priority for enrollment in St. Therese School. Non-Catholic students who wish to enroll will be placed in a pool and admitted if space is available.

4.  Eighth Grade Applicants
Registrations are generally not accepted from students seeking eighth grade placement unless students are transferring from other Catholic schools or new residents to the Denver metropolitan area.

5.  Handicapped Students
Students with handicaps can enroll at St. Therese School unless the handicap seriously impairs the student's ability to complete successfully the school's academic program or unless the school cannot provide sufficient care or make reasonable accommodations for the student.

6.  Registration Documents:

Parents should provide these documents at registration time to ensure placement on the class lists. Students with all documents current will be placed on the class lists first.

a.   Birth Certificate for all new students
b.   Baptismal Certificate for all Catholic students.
c.   Report cards from the current school year and from past school years unless this is the first year of school for the student.
d.   Standardized test scores, if available.
e.   Immunization records as required by Colorado law.
f.   Registration fees are paid, tuition payment plan on file in Business Office and other admission forms completed.

7.   Probation:

All new students are on probationary status for one full quarter from the first day of attendance at St. Therese School.

8.   Final Acceptance:

St. Therese School staff review all applications for admissions to insure as many students as possible receive a Catholic education in a setting where spiritual development, academic performance and personal leadership are engendered and encouraged. Occasionally, we may not accept an application because specific academic modifications, behavior/attitude needs or social/emotional needs are beyond the competency of our staff. These students are referred to other learning centers which have these learning modifications.
